Squiggle story

One day there was a guy called 9. He only likes games with 9 in them. But one day they stopped making games with 9 in them. So 9 went to the factory to ask why they stopped making games with 9 in them.

It turns out that they don't have any plans because an evil villain named 7 (we asked him what his name was) and he told us to put our hands up or else he will shoot us. So we put our hands up and he took all our plans for the games. “Can't you just redraw it?” asked 9.

“No we can't because he also took our cartoonist, paper and pencils.”

“Should we call the police?”

“Yes, yes please do.” So they called the police and the police came to investigate but they said that this crime was even worse than they thought; so they got to work on investigating. First they checked the door handle for fingerprints second they they checked for footprints third they brought in a sniffer dog. They saw that the suspects footprints led to a special garden and the sniffer dog sniffed out the suspects sent . They both led to the same place. They saw a pacific tree that had a lever on it. So they pulled it and was surprised to find a little room filled  with 9s.

They asked the 9s “why are you hiding in here?”

they replied, “we are scared of evil villan 7 because 7 ate 9!” but then one of the police caught a glimpse of 7 in the corner of his eye and said “there he is let's get him.” After  what felt like forever they finally got 7 and arrested him.

Dear 2016 year 5 students

Dear 2016 year 5 students…

I have a few words of wisdom I would like to share with you regarding your time in year 5.

The teachers are awesome especially Miss Cooper as she encourages us to use our blog and use loads of ict.

During the first term you get to participate in EOTC week which involves lots of fun outdoor activities!

 This will be your last garden to table in year 5 so make the most of it. This is the part I will miss the most.

 If you are lucky you will be chosen to join robotics club and learn cool tricks on the computer in a special robotics programme.

You get an opportunity to apply for different year six jobs by filling a proper job application and hope you get in!

Hope you enjoy being a year 5!!!

Once upon a time in a land far a way called Kakapaka. There was a boy/man/beast/awesomeness Lachlan he went to a school called Hakapakamaka. Everyone teased him BECAUSE HE WAS THE this list will go on for ever. OK, be warned people teased him because he was the fastest, the smartest, the coolest, the skinest the best behaved and the teachers most favourite. In Hakapakamaka there is a bully there his name is Turkey. He always picks on Lachlan but he doesn't care. One day every one in his class had an idea they have a class blog acount and at 11:45 at lunch time the whole class except Lachlan. Turkey was about to delete all his post on his blog but Lachlan for got his top trumps and he saw what Turkey was doing and went to go tell a teacher and he did Turkey was band from the school for ever.

Everyone lived happily every after!

The story of 9!!!!

Hi my name is Donovan and today I am going to tell you about sloths! Did you know scientists found out that sloths were the size of elephants? I find sloths an interesting topic so that is why I am going to tell you about them!!!!

First I’m going to tell you about sloths and what they are. A sloth is a cute and cuddly medium sized mammal. There are two types of sloths, there is the two toed sloth and the three toed sloth. Sloths have two cousins, the anteater and the armadillo. They are related to the anteater because the two toed sloth sometimes eats ants and they are related to the armadillo by their back bone. The sloths back bone provides strength and the same for the armadillo. All sloths have three toes but the two toed sloth only has 2 fingers!!!!

Are you wondering what a sloth looks like, well, I am going to tell you!!!!!!! Sloths have a brown and black nose and a white and brown face like a panda. The sloth has very long and sharp claws to help them climb trees aswell as getting food. Sloths aren’t very big, they are only about the size of a small dog. They have short flat heads. They have grayish brown hair but sometimes it looks grey green. This is because they have green algae on their coats which helps them camouflage.

Now I’m going to tell you about where sloths live.

Sloths are found in small areas of tropical rainforests along the coast of eastern Brazil. This habitat is disappearing because the rainforest is being cut down to create plantations, have space for livestock and the production of lumber and coal. Sloths have very long and sharp claws that they use to hold onto tree branches. The claws are their only natural defence against preditors. Sloths are also found on one small island off the coast of Panama, they live only in the mangrove forests surrounding the island, not the island itself.

Now I’m going to tell you about the foods that sloths eat. Sloths mainly eat tree buds, new shoots, fruits and leaves. Some two toed sloths eat insects, small reptiles, ants and birds. Sloths eat from 50 or more types of trees in the tropical rainforests.

Did you know sloths have a four part stomach that very slowly digests the tough leaves they eat, it can sometimes take up to a month for them to digest a meal. Digesting this diet means a sloth has very little energy left to move around making it one of the slowest moving animals in the world!

Now I’m going to share some interesting facts about sloths with you. Two toed sloths are nocturnal, being most active at night. Three toed sloths are diurnal which means they are most active during the day. Did you know that sloths only go to the toilet once a week? When they go to the toilet there is a chance that they could get killed by their preditors which are jaguars, the harpy eagle and snakes. It was thought that sloths slept for 15 to 20 hours a day. However, its now believed that they only  sleep around 10 hours a day. Sloths can move along the ground at just 2m  per minute! In the trees they are slightly quicker at 3m  per minute.

There was a boy called Charly and his grandpa called Chicken. One day Chicken had a saprise for Charly but he said it is on a platform in the blue sky. So they started to clime as they were Chicken was caring a puciler case. When they got to the top they had a look around and Chicken put down the case to open it.

He pulled out a meatle object called the cloud maker and he shoad Charly how to use it and he made a humages cloud. Then Charly had a go but he only made a tiny cloud and then Chicken told him to take a deep breth. So he did but it didint work so he kept on trying but he also was leaning on the cloud maker. He tryed once more but Charly acsadently brok the cloud maker and bent it.

Chiken helped him up and Charly rubed his cheek but then Charly looked at the cloud maker it was all bent. Chiken started to cry but Charly had an idea he picked it up and looked thrue at the cloud that his grampa blue. He started to bend it into a star shape and gave it to Chicken he told him to blow it so he did. And suprisingly it made a star he gave it back and asked if he could make a bunny so he did. Then Charly gave it back and Chicken blue it and it made a bunny then Charly asked if he could have a go. Chiken let him have a go and he made love hart to blow!

The Catch

One day there was a boy named Tamaki who lived in a village called Three Stars. His village wanted him to go fishing for food but he didn't want to. They argued for what seemed like forever but finally he decided that he would just go fishing and get it over with.

Tamaki was sad as he didn't want to go fishing; he walked to the small little pond by his village. But after a little while his fishing rod started bobbing. He pulled it up and found a little fish. He looked back at his village and in his mind he said "I hope this will do." 

Suddenly he heard a fox trap go off. He went to go and see what it was and he found a tiny little fox trapped trying to get away. He pulled out his pocket knife and the fox covered up his face with his paws. Tamaki was only trying to cut the fox free. 

When he set the fox free, the fox ran into the bushes and came out quickly trying to duel Tamaki. The fox pushed Tamaki down but then luckily he smelt the fish that Tamaki had caught. He jumped off Tamaki and went to the fish. Tamaki was relieved for only a second because then the fox picked up the fish in his mouth and ran into the forest.

Tamaki was annoyed at the fox because the fox took the only fish he had caught for his village. So he decided to chase the fox. He chased the fox for a while and finally the fox ran into a log. Tamaki jumped on top of it next to the other side to try catch the fox. But he didn't because the fox found a hole in the middle of the log and jumped onto Tamaki again. 

Then the fox ran up a hill and started to climb a mountain. Tamaki looked up the mountain and thought "Is this really necessary?" because it was only just a little fish. He decided that he would just carry on. While he climbed he felt nervous and scared. Halfway up the mountain he lost his favourite hat but he didn't climb back down to get it. He was so determined that he just kept on climbing.

When he got to the top, he saw the fox sitting at the edge of a foggy area. Suddenly the fox threw the fish and it landed with a loud splash. The fog suddenly disappeared and the bright sun blinded Tamaki. Then he saw the gigantic lake where loads of big fish were living.

The fox nudged Tamaki and gave him a stick which surprised him. Then he realised it was for him to fish with so he pulled out some string and a hook and started to fish. After a little while, he had finished. He caught loads of big fish for his village and as he was leaving, he gave the fox one of the smaller fish. 

Tamaki was excited because he had caught loads of fish and had not let down his village. He started heading back home. Once Tamaki was out of sight, the fox suddenly faded into the air up to the skies.
